Brand Design, Packaging, Motion
Duration: 1 month
Year: 2024
Problem
Many alcoholic beverages marketed to young adults are high in sugar, lack transparency in sourcing, and have minimal focus on sustainability. Consumers aged 19 to 35 are increasingly seeking healthier, eco-friendly alternatives that still feel fun, approachable, and locally connected. The challenge was to create a cider brand that meets these needs while celebrating local identity and the culture of lake and cottage life.
Objectives
Miss Rattler Cider was created to:
-
Offer a healthier beverage option that is vegan, gluten-free, and sugar-free.
-
Use locally sourced fruit from the Great Lakes area to support regional agriculture.
-
Promote sustainability through recyclable cans and bottles.
-
Build a brand identity inspired by personal connection to local wildlife, particularly the Mississauga rattlesnake, to resonate with the target audience.
Solution
Drawing on personal experiences growing up at a family cottage, the brand identity reflects the natural environment and wildlife of the region. The Mississauga rattlesnake became the focal inspiration for the name and visual identity. The logo features an apple gently squeezed by two cylindrical forms representing the snake’s body, while the apple seeds are stylized to resemble rattlesnake eyes.
Final Design Approach
Miss Rattler Cider combines a clean, symbolic logo with packaging that communicates health, sustainability, and local pride. The integration of regional wildlife into the brand story creates a personal and authentic connection with the audience. By merging thoughtful design, eco-friendly practices, and a unique origin story, Miss Rattler Cider positions itself as a distinctive choice for young adults seeking both quality and environmental responsibility.
