Problem
In today’s era of rapid technological growth, personal identity has become increasingly important. The clothing and jewelry market is crowded, especially online, with countless retailers offering low-cost pieces. This saturation makes it challenging for brands to stand out, particularly for customers seeking unique designs that reflect their individuality.
Objectives
Studz Piercings is a fictitious company offering high-quality sterling silver piercings at affordable prices for teenagers and young adults. The design goals were to:
-
Build a brand identity that stands out in a saturated market.
-
Appeal visually to both teens and young adults.
-
Create an engaging, user-friendly website that fosters personalization and brand loyalty.
Solution
The concept draws on the resurging Y2K aesthetic, appealing to both nostalgic young adults and style-conscious teens. The design combines neon collages, hand-drawn text, and 3D piercings for a bold, maximalist look.
Key website features include avatar personalization, jewelry filters, and detailed product pages with pricing, reviews, and quick add-to-cart functionality.
Final Design Approach
The Y2K style is carried through from logo to interface. A “customize your character” tool lets users create non-binary avatars with selectable hairstyles and piercings, which can be saved and shared as profile images to promote the brand itself.
